Having unveiled three new additions to The Ones range - the 8351B, 8361A and W371A - the previous week in London, the IBC exhibition was the perfect opportunity to cross the English Channel and introduce them to the European broadcast market in Amsterdam.

Genelec has long been a popular choice with the world’s broadcasters - who demand both neutral, uncoloured audio playback and total round-the-clock reliability - and with the new Ones models, we are now able to bring point source precision to even larger broadcast and post-production rooms that require higher SPLs and longer listening distances.

To demonstrate this, we created a fully soundproofed immersive audio listening room on our IBC booth and equipped it with a 7.1.4 monitoring system consisting entirely of three-way coaxial monitors from The Ones family: specifically the 8361As as LCR, 8341As as surrounds, 8331As as overheads – plus a 7380A subwoofer handling the LF.

During the course of the show we welcomed hundreds of broadcast audio professionals from over 40 countries to the room, and allowed them to audition a wide range of high quality stereo and immersive material - including music, movies and ambient sounds - in a peaceful listening environment, isolated from the noise and distractions of the show floor. We were also gratified to see so many other IBC exhibitors relying on Genelec monitors throughout the show!

On the first day of the exhibition we hosted our traditional IBC press event, where we gave our press guests an overview of the new Ones models, explained the benefits of our new Aural ID technology for critical headphone monitoring, and introduced our newly-appointed Asia Pacific Business Development Director Ken Kimura.

That same evening we also entertained our business partners and distributors at the beautiful ‘Explore’ restaurant, a converted gunpowder factory building now run by top Dutch chef Peter Lute. Over some fine food we talked about the new Ones monitors and then held a distributor award presentation, where we had a chance to recognise the amazing efforts of our worldwide distributor partners over the last year - and raise a glass in appreciation to them!

Finally, back on the show floor we were thrilled to receive an accolade of our own – an IBC Best of Show award, presented to us by Pro Sound News Europe in recognition of the newly launched 8361A coaxial studio monitor.
